Frequently Asked Questions About Online Counseling and Therapy

What happens during the first therapy session? 

In our first session we will get to know each other and make sure we are a good fit. We will also review intake paperwork and establish goals we want to work in therapy.

How often will I need to come to counseling or therapy? 

I have found that meeting weekly improves clients’ progress toward their goals. For that reason, I meet with clients weekly. We will establish a set to time to meet each week and that will be our reoccurring weekly appointment.

What is the difference between counseling and therapy?

Counseling tends to be shorter in duration and it can address non psychiatric diagnosis such as grief or work stress. Therapy is usually longer term and involves treating psychiatric diagnosis such as anxiety and depression.

Why aren’t you in network with any insurances?

Unfortunately, insurances limit the number of sessions , frequency of sessions, limits confidentiality and requires a diagnosis to receive therapy. Moreover, having a mental health diagnosis through your insurance becomes part of medical record. Working with insurance takes away from my time working with you my client and giving you the best possible service.

How do I seek reimbursement from my insurance company? 

I am an out-of -network Provider for insurance companies. I offer a Superbill, which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement using your out-of-network benefits. You may also want to contact your HR department with questions on how to seek reimbursement when using out-of-network benefits.

Where do sessions take place? 

You will be sent a secure link to log in to our video sessions. Link can be sent via e-mail or text. You can log in using computer or smart phone that has a camera. I suggest you choose a private place where you can talk freely for our sessions.

What is your fee?

$150.00- $165.00 per 50 minute Individual Therapy Session

$180.00 per 60 minute EMDR Session

$200.00 per 90 minute EMDR Session

I accept most major Credit cards, Debit cards, Zelle and Health Savings accounts. You can make your payment online. Payment is due at the beginning of each session.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require a 24 hour cancellation notice. You will be charged full fee if you do not cancel at least 24 hours in advance.

I know it can feel like a big step to call a Therapist, but I’ll make it easy. We’ll spend 15-minutes on the phone and I’ll let you know how or if I can help. If I am not the right person, I’ll do my best to get you to the right person.
